Hello, it's me!

Hello, it's me!

Just a quick hello and thank you to anyone reading this and visiting my site!  I have never blogged before, but I thought now is the time if I really want people to see my work and purchase my photos.  So here it goes...

I've been a practicing photography for over 35 years now.  I graduated from Columbia College in 1989 with a concentration in film.  I really like to be behind the camera and was leaning toward cinematography.  It was in my last year at Columbia that I took a 'Composition and Optics' class where we used a still camera rather then motion.  I borrowed my friends camera for the class and was hooked!  Being somewhat of a loner I was having a hard time with all the networking necessary to be in the film business.  It was very intimidating and admittedly, I wasn't very good at it.  Sometimes I was 'on', most of the time I was 'off'.  I even worked on a independent film with Oscar winning cinematographers Janusz Kamiński and Mauro Fiore! But with my 35mm, it was just me, no crew, wherever I wanted to go!  And so it began...

After graduation I was able to get backing and support through the Oak Brook Historical Society and several personal donors and have a book "Oak Brook" published in 1991.  There were only 1000 copies made so good luck finding it, but I recently found one on eBay and purchased it! It's a personal journey of the area I grew up in; places I considered my stomping ground:)

I have unique eye to see things around me that others don't see.  Just take a walk with me and you'll find out what I am talking about!  I have what I call "photo emergencies" when I have an urgent need stop and take a pic. I am so thankful for my Google Pixel in my back pocket and being able to capture the image.  There is something about freezing that image and then sharing it with others that is so satisfying.

My work in photography has ebbed and flowed.  It's definitely flowing now!  Having quit my job of 10 years in November of this past year (that's another story) and just turning 60 at the end of 2024, I finally don't care what others think.  Took awhile!

So, have a look and enjoy seeing what I see.  Let me know what you think and if you have any questions, please ask! I look forward to any inquiries!!

All my best, always,

Susan
